Slightly different from what we’ve seen so far is this new game entitled SkiRanger. What’s so special about this game is that it’s in fact a PC game that requires Kinect or Asus XtionPRO and it’s being developed by two former students.
The game is about a Ranger who is maintaining the law and order of his mountain district and has to master different challenges.
From school project to the gaming industry
The game started as a diploma thesis project back in 2010 and in the first quarter of this year the open beta phase will begin during which the developers will gather feedback to improve the game.
If our customers enjoy the game we can continue the development and put in more features. With growing amount of functionality and quality we are planning to raise the price step by step until it’s finished. People who already bought the game are getting all updates for free.
So, if you buy the game at the beginning, over time you’ll be getting more value for money than if you decide to purchase it later. The starting price is 4,99€ (75% discount of 19,99€). At the moment, the team did not decide how to provide the game to the customers but, if you’re interested in purchasing it, you should check their website soon.
Hopefully, these guy’s success will determine other youngsters to follow their dreams in game development as competition is healthy for the gaming industry. And we definitely wouldn’t mind more Kinect games.
